Hot Trends for Spring/ Summer 2016
Fashion Week 2016 has seen a burst of new trends hit the catwalks ready for Spring/ Summer next year. From graphic monochrome prints to bold, eighties inspired tailoring, there was something to inspire everyone’s summer wardrobe!
In appreciation of all that Fashion Week had to offer, we at Freya Rose wanted to share with you our styling tips, as well as some of our favourite trends – straight from the catwalk!
Colour & NostalgiaThe catwalks of Fashion Week 2016 have provided us with a carnival of colour and embellishment! Dolce & Gabbana and Manish Arora wowed us with their palettes of choice – not to mention their elaborate and nostalgic creations!
Manish Arora says he was inspired by his childhood memories when putting together this collection, which showcases embroidered ethnic floral patterns and childhood toys. Dolce & Gabbana‘s collection takes influence from 1940’s Italy, using pompoms, sequins and jewelled embellishments. Both collections are packed with bright looks for Spring/ Summer and we were astonished by the level of creativity!
Since Dolce & Gabbana are renowned for their incredible use of gold, we have selected a couple of our favourite dresses from their catwalks and paired them with our very own gold shoes for magnificent, regal looks. Freya Rose style ‘Ennis‘ looks beautifully opulent next to this Italian colour palette.
Our mirror gold leather ‘Della Sky‘ shoes compliment the beautiful gold elements of this outfit perfectly – particularly the lavish gold earrings and extravagant, ornate headpiece!
The designers presented us with some show-stopping statement evening wear throughout Fashion Week! Gold sequin embellished looks were out in full force and it appears they are set to light up the dance floor next season! The models sparkled like disco balls at the shows of Saint Laurent, Rochas and Sonia Rykiel, wearing opulent gowns and suits.
This Elie Saab haute couture gown is fully embroidered with silk threads and sequins and is the perfect match for our ‘Electra‘ couture shoe, which is handmade with opulent French Leavers lace. The shoe clip detail completes this outfit with it’s luxuriously opulent handmade gold flower – this is an evening look fit for the Met Gala!
Many designers seem to have taken inspiration from the punk-rock and gothic scenes for their Spring/ Summer 2016 collections. The catwalks saw complete leather ensembles, ripped tights and stud embellishments at Sonia Rykiel and Valentino as well as copious amounts of gothic, black lace, lingerie effects and sheer mesh detailing at Marchesa.
Ethereal WhitesWe saw an abundance of white dresses on the runways for Spring/ Summer 2016. The gowns embodied everything from silk, chiffon, and delicate lace details, to intricate embellishment, ruffles and boudoir effects. Although each piece was unique, they all felt very ethereal – particularly the gowns by Elie Saab and Balenciaga. We think future brides will love these looks!
Every look from Balenciaga was a celestial shade of white. The beautiful, slip dress above appeared to float down the catwalk, with it’s layers of light ruffles. We think this gown is a match made in heaven for our ‘Yuuka Couture‘ shoe, which features the unique Freya Rose signature Mother of Peal heel, creating a truly ethereal look!
