Simon Cowell’s Midsummer Ball
Simon Cowell’s Midsummer Ball for Together For Short Lives
Last week, Freya Rose attended Simon Cowell’s Midsummer Ball for Together For Short Lives. The ball shone light on the incredible charity that supports young people with their life-shortening conditions. It also acts to help both them and their families to get support where it is needed. The ball was held in Banqueting House, London and hosted a plethora of talented stars. This included: Ella Henderson, Gabrielle Aplin and Katie Melua, who came to show their support for the inspirational charity.
Freya photographed arriving at the ball, wearing an iridescent Grecian white gown. She accessoried her ensemble with the Freya Rose Freida Python Clutch and showcased the glamorous Hollywood heels (pictured below.)
The banqueting hall certainly did not disappoint! We’re not quite sure if it was the champagne or the beautiful decorations that made us feel like we were in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer’s Nights Dream. Maybe it was both? This romantic setting came complete with delightful table flowers and pretty fairy lights; understated and enchanting.
The Midsummer Ball was, as already stated, in aid of the charity Together For Short Lives. A highlight of the evening was when the lovely guest speaker, Amanda Harrison (wearing a beautiful pair of Freya Rose Charlotte Gold heels) gave her speech. She provided a detailed insight in to her own personal struggle with her son’s Infantile Batten Disease; a life shortening condition with no cure. We were blown away by the courage and joyful life spirit of this incredible woman!
Speaking at the ball, Amanda said, “When our son James was nearly two we heard the devastating news that he had an incurable life-shortening condition. To say that we were heartbroken, shocked and crushed doesn’t come close. It’s not a path we ever expected to go down, but we do everything we can to make every moment we have together count.” Amanada also went on to say, “We don’t count the days, we count the moments.” This is why we feel that this charity is so important.

We could not keep our eyes off of the opulent gowns worn by the lovely ladies who attended the evening. We thought that we would share some of our favourites with you!
We absolutely loved this silky black number, worn by Simon Cowell’s partner, Lauren Silverman. She completed her lavish gown with a black choker. We couldn’t think of a better stand in for Simon as patron of the Midsummer Ball (get well soon, Mr Cowell!)
Alesha Dixon is never shy of a show-stopping outfit and this event was certainly no different! The Scandalous singer wowed everyone with a vibrant multi-coloured silk ball gown, cinched at the waist with a stylish metal belt. We’d give her our golden buzzer!
Melanie Sykes wore a lovely high-necked black number with lace side detailing and black heeled sandals; showing off her enviable pins! She presented the evening with James Toseland and said of the event: “It was an emotional, incredible evening with some fabulous entertainment and of course, most importantly, raised lots of money for such an important cause.”
Gabrielle Aplin wore a sultry floor length bandeau gown complete with pockets. She also sported a smokey eyes look to compliment the gown. We were also very excited about the fact that Gabrielle wore a pair of Freya Rose Charlotte Gold slingback heels, underneath her beautiful dress!
The Thank You Note:
Thank you so much to Simon Cowell and Together For Short Lives for such an amazing evening. The Midsummer Ball raised a total of £290,000 of vital funds to help families who truly need it. The charity’s message has definitely touched the hearts of all the team members here at Freya Rose HQ!
Simon Cowell said of the charity: “For a number of years I have had the privilege of being able to work closely with Together For Short Lives and seen what incredible work they do. Getting to meet and know the families makes you realise what an incredible job each hospice does. They provide comfort and support and invaluable medical care from the most amazing team of people. A visit to one of the hospices will change your life. It did to mine.”
