We've rounded up some of our favourite moments from 2021's London Fashion Week, as well as trends to watch out for this year.
Mostly digital, and entirely accessible, this year London fashion week allowed every single person to be a front-row guest.
With collections being uploaded as videos to the London Fashion Week official website, it’s clear that this was going to be one of the most visually unique fashion weeks of all time.
Back to the Future - Paired with Freya Rose Modern and Minimalistic Shoes
London based fashion designer Yuhan Wang presented an amazing regency inspired, whimsical collection. Mixing the past and present, her designs have made her a label to watch. After the success of Bridgerton, many people are revisiting period-piece style, and the escapism it offers. We particularly love the fabulous floral two-piece suit we can’t stop thinking about. This completely unique suit with our equally unique ‘Roxy Noir’ designer black boots with pearl and brass heel would be an amazing outfit for a fashion-forward woman.
Also taking inspiration from the past, Vivienne Westwood used upcyled and recycled clothing to create a fashion forward collection that heavily featured 1743 painting by François Boucher called ‘Daphnis and Chloe.’ The A/W collection also featured corsets, and colonial style hats (as well as supreme tailoring.) This was a powerful collection that combined strength and beauty, and the style of the past with the progression of the current climate. We'd recommend pairing a corset top with jeans and exciting designer shoes, like Vivienne Westwood. Our 'Martina Midi' designer champagne shimmer leather shoes feature an incredible pearl heel - pearl is the most opulent way to nod to historical fashion.
We also love our 'Martene Queen' designer champagne heels with pearl embellishment. They're a minimalistic shoe for a modern Marie Antoinette. Pure luxury, these pearl champagne shoes are here to help you step into the future with all the glory of the regency fashion.
Wearable and Prairieable with Pearly Champagne Shoes
Batsheva’s also was influenced by prairie style. The collection focused on clothes to wear indoors, and models were photographed in kitchens, cooking their favourite meal. Less about domesticity, and more about real life and the fun and troubles that come along with it, Batsheva featured clothes for you. Models were asked to really make their favourite meal, with some taking the whole day just to cook, while wearing clothes that looked good enough to eat. Featuring prairie dresses and and retro knits, Batsheva was another designer who focused inwards and emphasised subtlety, however these looks would also look just as good outside. At Freya Rose, we recommend not cooking barefoot like Batsheva - accidents can happen in the kitchen. Ensure your feet and style icon status are protected by wearing our 'Martina Midi Queen' - these low white block heel designer boots are perfect for matching with prairie dresses. They feature a pearl heel and extra pearl embellishment at the front, and we think they'd be perfect for this silk cream Batsheva dress.
Striking Silhouettes
Simone Rocha showcased otherworldly rounded dresses with striking tailoring. The dresses were royal-worthy creations, and symbolised pure escapism. Featuring Rochas signature pearl detailing, these dresses also included jewelled bodices, patterns of castles, and monograms. With layers of whimsical tulle, lace, and scalloped edges, these dresses are the answer to dignified princess dressing. We’d love to see this dress with our ‘Martina Midi Queen’ for a pearlescent statement look. Featuring stunning pearl and Swarovski crystal embellishments, these shoes also feature a pearl heel fit for a queen.
Bridal Embellishments
Rixo also featured a bridal collection that we adored at Freya Rose. Ivory bridal looks featured feathered cuffs, frills, sequins, jackets, short length dresses, long length dresses, jumpsuits, and a completely brilliant vintage-inspired hat. There was a style for everyone in this collection, something that was also reflected in the diverse range of beautiful models. Ultra-feminine and ultra-modern, it’s hard to pick our favourites. However, RIXO’s long ivory dress and feather cuffed ivory bridal jacket does catch our eye. We’d pair this fantastic look with our ‘Charlie Rosette’ ivory wedding shoes for a modern and fun wedding look. These glamorous ivory wedding heels feature a romantic silk rosette flower - perfect for any of these sophisticated RIXO looks.
Suits and Tailoring
'The Academy New York' featured masculine and clean tailoring - for women. Straight lines and suits mixed with athleisure felt entirely modern and fresh. Clearly perfect for ever changing guidelines, this collection featured comfort as well as irreverent tailoring. Pair your suit this year with low block heels like 'The Academy New York.' We love our 'Helen' silver metallic designer heels. Comfortable and opulent, these tie-up silver heels are a versatile and stylish choice.
Emilia Wickstead also featured womens suits and tailoring, but with a more feminine flair. Wicksteads designs featured cinched waists and designs for a powerful woman. A standout piece was the powder blue jumpsuit in an incredible cut. Stunningly simple, we love these polished pieces in pleasing palettes.
We'd pair amazing tailoring like this with our low heel 'Hester Ivory' ivory shoes. They feature a brass and pearl floral heel that will add a feminine aspect to your suiting.
Showstopping Gowns with Metallic Shoes
This incredible blue gown by Jenny Packham would be an ideal head turning look when worn with our 'Lottie Blue' blue designer heels. Sparkle from head to toe in these silk satin blue heels with crystal embellishment.
Jenny Packham featured elegant designs with intricate embellishments, metallic sequins, and statement ostrich feather additions. These luxe dreamy dresses make us even more excited for our next big event. We especially love this metallic dress adorned in sequins from head to toe. Party ready and more than eye catching, we’d pair this stunning silver dress with our amazing metallic silver ‘Helen Blossom’ occasion heels for a match made in heaven. These mirror leather silver heels also feature floral crystals for a striking and glittering look.
Monochrome and Jewelled Shoes
Black and white colour combinations were seen in many collections. We particularly love Victoria Beckham's pared-back style that was put to full effect for this collection. We can easily see ourselves slipping into the fabulous black cut out dresses for a day or night outing. We’d pair one with our ‘Lottie’ ivory satin designer shoes with crystal embellishments to really spice up our look.
We especially adore this white three-piece suit - it’s pragmatic perfection. Featuring masterful tailoring, this elevated white suit would be simply striking with the right heel - let two become one by pairing it with our chic ‘Celine’ ivory silk-satin designer shoes.
Alaïa also featured monochrome, as well as corseting and cinched waists, but went in a more futuristic direction. Heavily inspired by the houses own iconic designs, this collection featured sculptural and intricate designs. Featuring african inspired designs, cut out fabrics, lace, leather and weaved fabrics, Alaia’s collection was a showstopping presentation of design and technique.
We like to think our shoes are also a masterclass in technique, as we blend jewellery and shoe craftmenship together.
Lean into monochrome and well made designs with a pair of our 'June Boots,' white designer boots. Featuring brass and precious pearl, they're wearable works of art.
We also love our 'Jasmine White' white leather boots for this monochrome trend. These white designer boots will amp up any monochrome outfit, and they'd be dreamy with a couture black dress.
