Fashion Week Trend Round Up for A/W 2022
As travel restrictions eased around the world, we saw the traditional catwalk, back and better than ever; The fashion world gave us some of the most exciting shows and designs we have been able to experience after such unprecedented times .
Autumn/Winter 2022 wrapped up another incredible round of shows for the season and we can’t help but want to style them with our Freya Rose collection.
Read on to see how we would wear the standout looks from New York, London, Milan and Paris that will be trending this season!
Feminine Tailoring
Tailoring is a classic style no matter the time of year, its always in style. This season we saw beautiful pieces from the likes of Balenciaga and Dior with fun feminine tailoring to cross the boundaries of traditionally masculine silhouettes. We love and encourage pushing the boundaries with your style to play with fashion that is both masculine and feminine in design.
For powerful looks like the above, we would love styling them with our 'June' white ankle boots for the perfect balance of bold and sexy. Its mother of pearl and polished brass black heel paired with a touch of seduction through its white leather effortlessly clings onto your foot. If wanting to keep the darker tones of the tailored look, we would pick the 'Micola Noir' - A black suede pointed court shoe with a statement grey mother of pearl heel, making corporate fashionable. To match with your shoes, the Gold Weave Mini Hoops with Baroque Pearl are all about female strength. Every piece of weave represents the strength of women together as a unit, whilst the sizeable baroque pearl reiterates the beauty and inherent innocence associated with pearls. Another piece of pearl jewellery that embodies feminine power, that we would love to see in this look, would be our crescent Moon Pearl Necklace.
Pearl Jewellery Accessorising
Givenchy’s show was a pearl galore with large oversized pearl accessories and intricately beaded flowing skirts. Pearls are one of our signature and iconic features at Freya Rose, so we were spoilt for choice when deciding which pieces to include in this styling piece! Whilst Givenchy’s style cannot be argued, we realise that a full pearl outfit isn’t all that wearable for an everyday look.
So to include a touch of pearl with any outfit day or night we would opt for our exquisite Baroque Pearl Long Drop Earrings. These earrings are the ultimate pearly touch to any outfit, you can wear over and over again. Similarly with our Baroque Pearl Necklace, this piece is an easy way of incorporating pearl into your everyday looks. If you’d rather make a statement with your shoes, we have a plethora of pearled jewelled heels - they are our signature after all. A top contender would be our ‘GiGi’ chunky platformed heels for their comfort and these shoes are effortlessly cool in style. However, if wanting to truly commit to a statement pearl shoe: 'Fefe Pearl Duchess' is a beautiful sandal featuring a Swarovski crystal and Freshwater Pearl hand-embellished strap.
Coloured Prints
Graphic prints are not something to fear, whilst wanting to maintain a chic and understated look. This season’s catwalks proved just that with prints on statement white bases. We saw designs that include daring colours like orange and blue hues for a pattern with class. Avoiding prints are a thing of the past for a contemporary and luxurious look.
When styling a pattern oriented outfit, we would usually opt for a classic and simple shoe that will compliment the outfit rather than take any attention away from your curated look. These looks in particular have strong white tones which would be beautifully paired with our white leather boots. If you’re wanting an elegant boost of height 'Jasmine' is the boot for you or 'Zara' for a must-have spring style peep-toe shoe - we would say both are the perfect pairing for this particular style. These heels are intricately made with hand-inlaid a mother of pearl heel with a timeless polished brass design. We would style this trend with simple contemporary earrings like our statement Hakuro Ivory Mother of Pearl Long Drops and Pearl and Mother of Pearl Pear Drops both are stunning light-to-wear earrings with small delicate seed pearls and hand-crafted mother of pearl.
Long line and One Tone Dressing
Single colour dressing has been loved by designers over the decades and is easily transferable into your very own capsule wardrobe aiding you to maintain an effortless style, no matter the occasion. Combine this loved trend with long line blazers or full length, free flowing skirts made from satin or knit for a sophisticated look, all year round. Single colours means that majority of accessories and footwear will pair with ease and we are all about being able to re-wear combination outfits for the sake of sustainable and slow fashion.
When one tone dressing we would opt for accessories that can add a level of flair to what can be misinterpreted as a demure outfit. So why not pair a colour blocked ensemble with Hand Carved Mother of Pearl Rose Drops for a unique curved earring design that has a romantic rose motif. We also adore our Hammered Gold Baroque Pearl Earrings for their modern design making a perfect day-to-night earring. To finish off your look, a closed toe style like ‘Monica’ a pointed-toe shoe in a shimmering champagne suede will match every single colour outfit in your wardrobe or our previously mentioned 'June' boot in sumptuous white leather.
Monochrome Floral Dress
We could not resist including Gabriela Hearst’s incredible designs, as one particular pattern stood out to us down the runway. An incredibly detailed white floral pattern set against a contrasting deep black hue to really bring out the level of detail behind this design. If you’re wanting to replicate this monochromatic black and white floral statement without committing to an entirely floral outfit - Mineko is here to save the day!
Part of our limited couture collection, Mineko is a black suede pointed-toe boot that features a sumptuous floral heel. Constructed of hand-cut iridescent pieces of Mother of Pearl, set in opulent black resin using a traditional Japanese technique called Kintsugi. For a lighter toned shoe, the beautiful 'Freya' heels would be perfect in all its shimmering ivory suede glory. This new stiletto heel has one of our most iconic floral motifs, set in ivory resin for a glowing finish. We have a large selection of floral jewellery for you to choose from for this look and think the Hand Carved Mother of Pearl Rose Drops emulate this trend well. An 18ct Rose gold plated sterling silver hoop has a sumptuous subtlety in its hand carved beauty. The Hakuro Grey Mother of Pearl and Pearl Long Drops features delicate hand strung seed pearls on a light chain, resembling wisteria hanging flowers.
