Photoshoot with Fashion Blogger and Freya Rose Ambassador: The Smart Fashionistas
We were very excited last month for the launch of our Capsule Collection, and what better way to showcase the all-new, ready-to-wear designs than to shoot with our ambassador ‘The Smart Fashionistas’ Isis Louw – fashion blogger, mum, and one of Instagram’s most fashionable women.
We met with Isis, photographer Nadine Brandt and makeup artist Emma Beecham at Morton’s Club in Berkeley Square, London, where Isis modelled our collection and chatted with us about what style in the city means to her.
What was your favourite style from the Freya Rose Capsule Collection shoot and why?
I think the Jasmine ankle boots. They are such versatile pieces for winter, you can wear them with anything, dress them up or down and I absolutely love their heel!
How does Freya Rose fit in with your personal style?
I love her clean lines with a statement heel, totally my kind of shoe! I need a shoe that is elegant but also comfortable to wear all day, as I am always running around.
You live between London and New York, where are your top 3 places to visit in New York?
There are so many, but to name a few, Bergdorf Goodman or Saks for shopping, the Meatpacking District (or Greenwich village) for a Sunday stroll and Central Park.
How would you describe London style?
London style has no boundaries in terms of colours, structure, textures and cuts. Everything goes in London! And I love that you can actually dress up when you go out.
Talk us through your average day in the city and what you’d be wearing.
If I am spending the day with my little one I wear trainers and denim, we go to the park, we go out for lunch or go to a baby gym or music classes. When I have meetings, lunches or shoots, I wear midi skirts or dresses, jumpsuits with heeled boots or pumps. I often change once or twice a day when I do both.
Where do you shop? Do you know of any hidden-gem shops you can share with us?
I usually shop online. My hidden gems are small multi-brand boutiques such as Mercantile London, The Place, Paulie etc.
How do you take your look from day to night?
Switch to higher heels, add a smoky eye and a red lip.
What’s your signature style for a night out with friends?
I love jumpsuits, they are comfortable and fabulous at the same time! I wear them with boots, pumps or sandals depending on the weather.
What do you think is in style for party shoes?
Strappy sandals or over-the-knee boots.
What is your best tip for party dressing?
Always balance your look, if you are wearing statement shoes, wear a simple LBD and vice versa. The same applies to showing cleavage and/or legs.
If you could be in someone else’s shoes for the day whose would they be?
An astronaut stationed in the ISS.
What’s one thing people may not know about you?
I used to work in investment banking (for a long time)!
Tell us about the most rewarding experience you’ve had as a blogger.
Becoming an ambassador for brands that I love.
What would you say are the biggest challenges and greatest satisfactions of fashion blogging?
[The] competition is fierce so you have to find your niche, stay up to date and produce regular and excellent content without copying anyone else. I strongly believe that hard work and perseverance pay, and when they do it is the best feeling in the world!
